About Bonne Santé
This custom house with its bonded warehouses was built in 1820. It was designed by David Laing. This was his first job as Surveyor of the Customs. The customs house supervised the taxes (duties) that had to be paid on goods imported into and exported from the port of Plymouth. Bonded warehouses were places where goods which came into the port could be stored and then exported without having to pay taxes.
Bonne Santé Plymouth is a bar and restaurant built on a vision of offering a range of fresh and indulgent food and beverages with enjoyment and 'good health' in mind. The recipes have been practiced for years. Their target is to reduce saturated fats, refined sugar, along with a firm focus on the increase of crucial body engineering nutrients, such as proteins, vitamins, and health-boosting unsaturated fats.
