RIBA President's Medals 2018 exhibition

The annual RIBA President’s Medals exhibition showcases the talent of students nominated by schools of architecture across the globe for the RIBA Bronze, Silver, and Dissertation Medals, widely regarded as the most prestigious awards in architectural education worldwide.

As the RIBA’s oldest awards (continuously awarded since 1836, and preceding the Royal Gold Medal, which was formally established in 1848), the President’s Medals are regarded not only as the most prestigious and long-standing awards in architectural education in the world, but also as the embodiment of the Institute’s commitment to promoting architecture and the education of individuals into understanding its wider social benefits.

Every year, students aspire to be selected by their schools to submit their writings or design proposals for the President’s Medals, and for the opportunity for their work to be recognised and publicly exhibited. Schools can nominate up to two entries for the Bronze Medal, up to two for the Silver Medal, and one for the Dissertation Medal.

Coinciding with the public announcement of the winners on 4 December, this exhibition includes not only the award-winning entries but also a diverse selection of design proposals created by students nominated by the 376 schools of architecture located in 74 countries invited to enter the awards.
