RIBA South Essex Chapter: Southend building visits

Join RIBA South Essex Chapter of Architects for building visits to two projects in Southend-on-Sea, with project architects, SK Architects.

You are invited to join the South Essex Chapter of Architects for the opportunity of two building visits in Southend-on-Sea, with project architects, SK Architects. The visit will begin at White Heather House at 2pm, then follow on to the second project, Bluebird. Both of these projects are for HARP, a Southend-based charity helping local people overcome homelessness for good:

2pm - White Heather House, 107 York Road, SS1 2DL

White Heather House is a support centre and accommodation block for HARP, a homeless charity in Southend, and is the first centre for the charity that is exclusively for women. The total build time was 7 months and the project was completed in January 2017. The project won a 2018 RIBA East Regional Award, and 2018 RIBA East Client of the Year Award.

2:45pm - Bluebird, 45-47 Southchurch Avenue, SS1 2EY

Bluebird is a 50-bed development for HARP, aimed at clients recovering from homelessness with medium and complex needs. The facility also provides a 'Learning For Life'. educational centre that allows residents to take up training opportunities during their stay, supporting their journey towards independence.

The South Essex Chapter is also looking to arrange a branch lunch to take place before the two visits on the day - details to be confirmed as soon as possible.
