About the Building Safety Act

In the wake of the tragic Grenfell Tower incident in 2017, the Building Safety Act (BSA) 2022 was introduced and came into effect on 1 October 2023.

The Building Safety Act impacts all professionals operating in the built environment, and this presentation will explore the responsibilities of dutyholders throughout the design and construction phases as well as post-occupation.

A new Building Safety Regulator has oversight of the built environment to improve the competence of those working on all buildings; and to oversee a new regulatory regime.

The focus of the new regime is very much on the responsibility for Building Regulation compliance with all involved in construction including the client, design team, project managers and contractors.

The importance of key information being passed between all parties and cooperation of all functions is a fundamental thrust of the new legislation.
