RIBA Friends architecture walking tour: Royalty v Parliament - the buildings of Government and Royalty in Westminster

The buildings of Government and Royalty have been the backdrop to key events in our history, but why were these architectural styles chosen and what do they say about the period in which they were constructed? We will unravel our past through the architecture of the age.

Starting at Westminster this walk will examine some of the buildings of Government and Royalty. The architecture ranges from the 1200s to the Twentieth Century. These buildings have been the backdrop to key events in our history, but why were these architectural styles chosen and what do they say about the period in which they were constructed? The buildings range from Decorated Gothic to arguably the most significant steel framed building in the country. We will unravel our past through the architecture of the age.

Led by award winning guide Paula Cooze, the walk will start at Westminster Underground station, and finishes on Piccadilly near Green Park Underground station.
