For young people aged 15 to 18
About the event
Join us for this in-person creative architecture workshop to understand how architects build scale models to represent their designs. The workshop will be led by a professional architect to help you understand model making scales, before developing your own individual ideas into 3D physical models.
We will learn how to develop conceptual ideas into 3D models, how to utilise different model making scales, and how to safely use different craft making techniques. The morning session will centre around developing a conceptual idea and turning it into a small maquette, followed by more detailed model making in the afternoon.
This creative architecture workshop for young people aged 15 to 18 will be run by architect and educator Rory Harmer of Studio Becoming.
About the workshop series
Our workshops for ages 15 to 18 ‘skill up’ teenagers who are thinking about studying architecture or design. Participants think critically, share their views on architecture, and express themselves through creative practice.
In previous workshops participants have learnt how to work to an architectural brief, improve portfolios, develop architectural drawing skills using a variety of media (including digital drawing on iPads), and photography skills.
About Rory Harmer

Harmer likes to start simply. A good prompt to get young people thinking like an architect.
