Skill Up: Ideal architecture (in-person workshop)

Join us for this creative architecture workshop and explore how you can make your architectural style, ideas, and ideals visible for all to see. For ages 15 to 18 years.

What do we know about an architect's agenda, interests, and ideas for architecture simply by looking at their designs?

In this creative architecture workshop, we will explore how you can make your architectural style, ideas, and ideals visible for all to see. We will draw inspiration from how Baroque and postmodern architecture incorporated multiple styles and symbols to create buildings that break down boundaries or seek to inspire particular viewpoints and beliefs.

We will engage with experimental drawing activities to inspire our own new fantastical ideas and explore how collage may help us to incorporate your favourite styles as well as fragments of buildings, past and present. We will consider how colour and texture can be used to simulate materials and communicate a particular mood or agenda.

We will end the day by you combining it all into your own elaborate design that puts your architectural agenda on the façade: making it perfectly clear what you want the future of architecture to be.

This creative architecture workshop is led by artist and educator Marianne Holm Hansen for young people aged 15 to 18 years.
