Join us for a studio day at RIBA's headquarters - 66 Portland Place, London This event offers young people an opportunity to work across different media in a creative, fun, and accessible architectural workshop.
About the workshop
We will spend the day gathering ideas; exploring the unique and beautiful Art Deco building, its architectural collections, and contemporary exhibitions to find inspiration.
We'll seek out design ideas, using a variety of materials, styles, and techniques to get us started. We will then develop our creative ideas to inspire sketchbook and portfolio work.
Throughout the day we will utilise drawing, photography, 3D model making, and more, finding and learning new techniques to think differently about creativity and design. Then, we will focus on pulling our ideas together to present the process of our work.
Participants will gain the means to work with some initial inspiration and translate this into a larger explorations of ideas, looking at documentation and layout before presenting work in a concise and effective way.
We hope participants will come away feeling inspired and motivated, with clear and usable techniques to take their ideas forward.
This creative architecture workshop for young people aged 15 to 18 will be run by artist educator Katie Kennedy.
Katie Kennedy is a graphic designer and educator running her own design business alongside delivering architecture, art, printing, and design workshops. She also runs projects at museums, galleries, festivals, and schools around the country.
