Join RIBA Learning for a morning of sewing and chat inspired by the Threading the Needle: Architecture of Care display in the V&A Architecture Galleries. Over the four weeks of the LFA, the fabric will evolve to represent the contributors and the conversations that unfold.
Come along to meet new people or chat to an old friend, while you stitch some shapes, words, patterns, or draw with thread.
For all ages, under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult. Booking is advised, but please visit the exhibition during these times to see if we have space for you to join in.
About the workshop facilitators
The workshop leaders are Lil Adams and Edie Parfitt from RIBA Learning. Lil is an artist, jeweller and educator, her sewing has been exhibited at the Royal Academy and as part of immersive exhibitions with TRACES. Edie is an architectural designer and maker, with an interest in sustainability, materiality and collaborative learning. The RIBA Learning programme provides exciting opportunities for everyone to explore, question and celebrate architecture.
Stitching time
Stitching time sessions have been run throughout the LFA. This is the third session; the final, fourth session will take place on Thursday 26 June.
The curators of the ‘Threading the needle’ display, created through the V&A and RIBA Architecture partnership, will be joining the group for some of these sessions.
After June RIBA Learning will take the sew 'on the road’ and engage with public at different venues to build a community of stitchers and develop the piece.
