Voices in design: Girls, inclusion, and the built environment

Celebrate International day of the girl child with an evening of talks, networking, and drinks in Leeds.

Join us in celebrating the International day of the girl child with an inspiring evening of conversation and connection. Voices in design brings together a dynamic panel of multidisciplinary professionals from across the built environment sector to explore how inclusive design can shape a better future for girls and young women.

This special event is a collaboration between Building Female, Leeds Society of Architects, and the Young Architectural Practitioners Forum; three networks joining forces for the first time to champion equity and innovation in the industry.

Expect thought-provoking discussion, networking opportunities, and complimentary drinks and nibbles—all hosted at Arup’s offices at 11/12 Wellington Place, Leeds.

All proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Make Space for Girls - a charity campaigning for parks and public spaces to be designed with teenage girls in mind, challenging the default approach to public space and advocating for inclusive environments.

About International Day of the Girl Child

On 19 December 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare 11 October as the International day of the girl child, to recognise girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.

The International day of the girl child focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights.
