Award RIBA London Award 2025

The award winner tells us: "C1 and D1 are two of 16 new buildings by eight emerging design practices, set within the masterplan for a new Design District at the heart of Greenwich Peninsula. They provide affordable workspaces and wider amenity for creative industries, and serve a vital placemaking role.
Architecture00 designed C1 and D1 to encourage collaboration between the small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) tenant community with enabling environments that permit a range of approaches to their use. Concrete external covered decks provide access, creative thresholds, social spaces, and extended active ‘shop frontage’ as well as allowing the tenants to expand beyond their units to work on larger-scale projects."
The jury says: "C1 and D1 have common themes about circulation and the use of materials, but different experiences. C1 is a series of studios while D1 is a co-working space. Both buildings engage with how the occupiers move around them, and encourage a sense of ownership and of freedom in how to use them. These are an iconic set of buildings that turn the idea of inward-focused, rentable commercial space on its head."
