This is an elegant office building which makes a positive contribution to both public realm and wider cityscape.

A difficult post-industrial set of ground levels is strongly reworked in an iterative process with the wider masterplan and area regeneration, creating a more permeable and active public realm and conserving a good quantity of the historic station fabric, used to form a plinth which negotiates the level changes across the site and accommodates parking.

On this plinth sits an elegantly detailed volume, its non-square geometry giving a subtle dynamic skyline and presenting a fine aspect from the city - an important viewpoint across Cathedral Gardens bounded by the Cathedral and Chetham’s School of Music.
