Award RIBA Yorkshire Award 2025

The award winner tells us, "This ambitious 12-year renovation and remodelling project, costing £6.5 million and completed in three phases, transformed the Grade I listed Hull Minster, which was on the brink of closure, into a sustainable community and cultural asset. Comprehensive internal and external reordering has enabled the Minster to re-integrate with the surrounding city and protect the heritage for future generations."
The jury says, "Hull Minster, formerly Holy Trinity Church, is considered the largest parish church in the country. An insulated limestone floor replaces dark tiles, and again provides versatility for hosting concerts, installations, community events and festivals.
The jury were impressed with the new-found possibilities of the building, as a place of worship, cultural and civic centre, gallery, marketplace as well as a warm space and place of refuge. The latest phase of works undertaken has been a reordering of the choir vestry and former boiler room to the south-west."
