RIBA Fellow Membership

RIBA Fellowship is a distinguished honour awarded to Chartered Members who have made a sustained and significant contribution to architecture and the built environment. As a Fellow, you are recognised as a leader in your field, committed to advancing the profession and shaping the future of architecture.

What does Fellow membership offer?

RIBA Fellowship pricing

Fellows pay the chartered membership fee plus an additional fee of 20%. You will continue to receive all Chartered Member benefits.

Who is eligible to become a Fellow?

To apply, you must be a RIBA Chartered Member and applicants must demonstrate a record of achievement in three or more of the following areas:

  • proactive role in projects with measurable impact on sustainability
  • advancement of thought leadership in architecture (education, research)
  • influence on regional, national, or international working groups
  • awards or honours for significant contributions to the built environment
  • social purpose contributions (equity, diversity, ethics, mentoring, community)
  • advancement of architecture through innovation or technology 

How to apply

Would you like to become a RIBA Fellow, or do you know someone who would make a great Fellow? 

Self and colleague nominations are welcome. Colleague nominations can be submitted by emailing us at fellows@riba.org with the nominee’s full name, email address, and membership number.

For self nominations, the application process is straightforward. Your application will be reviewed by an independent panel of experts and academics in the built environment industry.

You’ll need to provide:

  • a professional statement outlining your career and contributions
  • evidence of your impact (projects, publications, awards)
  • two references from respected professionals familiar with your work
