Putting business your way

Our Client Referrals and Find an Architect services generate real new business leads for you as a Chartered Practice.

Find an Architect enables clients to search online to draw up a shortlist or find a RIBA Chartered Practice that is right for their project, large or small, based on location and project experience.

For larger or more complex projects, clients can speak to our expert and knowledgeable Client Services team who will search our database of 3,500 Chartered Practices to find the right match and produce a shortlist on their behalf. Last year the team handled 800 client referrals and, based on the response so far, this year the number will be closer to 1,000.

We encourage the client to talk through their brief and provide an idea of the budget before any shortlisting, so we can make sure the opportunity will suit you and inexperienced clients will be better prepared when they make get in touch.

Promoting Chartered Practices

We promote our Chartered Practices through attendance at a number of key consumer and trade shows and exhibitions around the country – including Homebuilding & Renovating, Grand Designs Live, MIPIM, Vision and UK Construction Week.

We also co-ordinate a range of speaking and promotional opportunities for our Practices, positioning them as experts in their field. We produce four specialist printed directories for clients – Public Realm, Housing, Commercial and The List - featuring our RIBA Chartered Practices, and produce a range of collateral to be used by our regional teams as well as guidance on architecture.com and via the RIBA Bookshop.

The RIBA for Clients Initiative is an ongoing market research programme, led by the RIBA Client Liaison Group, which asks clients what they think of architects and how architects can improve their services.

From 2013 to 2015 we ran a series of client roundtables and published feedback in the highly acclaimed report ‘Client & Architect – developing the essential relationship’; and in 2015 to 2017 we ran the RIBA’s inaugural ‘Working with Architects’ client survey and published a detailed report of the findings which we then promoted around the country to clients and architects.

Together with the annual benchmarking survey, a suite of business tools and support services, access to knowledge materials and a range of discounts and offers, the benefits of RIBA Chartered Practice membership are considerable. Find out more about RIBA Chartered Practice Membership.
