The RIBA Client Adviser Professional Services Contract is suitable for the appointment of a Client Adviser and sets out the standard services that a Client Adviser provides.
Client Advisers are highly trained, experienced architects selected for their all-round design and quality assessment experience, business knowledge and track-record of delivering results; before, during and after construction projects and programmes of work.
Appointed directly by the Client, and separate to the design team, Client Advisers offer independent and strategic advice and guidance – including developing the brief; examining feasibility and capacity; setting sustainability and safety strategies, and selecting the right teams – all with the ultimate aim of ensuring best value and quality.
The RIBA Client Adviser Professional Services Contract is devised as an agreement between a Client Adviser and a business client or public authority. Business clients include charities, religious organisations and not-for-profit bodies. It is not suitable to appoint a Client Adviser on work undertaken for a ‘consumer’ client.

Easy to understand
The RIBA Client Adviser Professional Services Contract is written in plain English, which provides three key benefits:
1. The language used in the contract is succinct and easy to understand, compared to other standard forms of contracts
2. The terms of the contract are fair and equitable for both client and Client Adviser
3. The clause structure used in the contract avoids the use of large numbers of sub-sub clauses and large amounts of cross-referencing between provisions
Print multiple copies required for each Party
It is legally advisable that both parties to the contract each have an original signed version. Therefore, you should purchase two copies of the contract, so that both the Client and the Client Adviser has an original signed copy.
