RIBA PK01: Architecture & Community

RIBA Bath & Bristol branch is excited to announce the launch of a series of Pecha Kucha about various topics, as part of our knowledge and learning programme.

We’re inviting local professionals (not only architects) to speak at each session which will provide different perspectives on a particular topic. The aim is to have a varied audiences including urban designers, planners, councillors, etc. We will be offering both lunchtime and after work sessions to suit your busy schedule so hope you can join us for one of them.

Our first session will be about Architecture & Community - with increasing challenges facing local communities including issues of social isolation, density and cost to buy, we believe this is a topic that deserves our attention. It would be a forum for the presenters to share their ideas and experiences, and to explain what they believe is required to strengthen local communities.

What is Pecha Kucha?

Pecha Kucha (PK) is presentation style translated as “chitchat”. Designed by Tokyo architects in 2003, a PK presentation style utilises imagery and efficient use of spoken word to create a memorable, meaningful and concise presentation. Designed to be completed in 6 minutes and 40 seconds, the rules regarding its composition are likened to visual Haiku: 20 images, 20 seconds each, and connected seamlessly with well-developed narration.

Please join us upstairs at the Architecture Centre - bring your own lunch, tea and coffee will be provided.

Tickets are limited so book today and please let us know if you cannot make it as someone else can take your place.
