RIBA Cornwall introduce a new series of presentations aimed at providing local members with face-to-face events and activities that are relevant to Cornwall and count towards your CPD hours.
In the first of the series, Andy Golay of Enhance Heritage and Planning will cover the hot planning topics for 2024 and Natasha Collings-Costello of CEC will be providing an overview of the recent changes to biodiversity net gain regulations.
About Andrew Golay
Andrew is a highly regarded heritage planner with extensive experience delivering a wide variety of conservation-led development projects across Cornwall and the South West. For over two decades he has served both the public and private sectors with a clear focus achieving social, environmental, and economic benefits.
Andrew has a particular passion for delivering sustainable growth, and works closely with local parish councils and community groups, including Cornwall Council, Cornwall Community Land Trust, St Ives Town Council, and numerous local collectives and property owners.
About Natasha Collings-Costello
Natasha is an experienced ecologist and environmental manager and is the Managing Director of Cornwall’s largest environmental consultancy, CEC. Previously the County Ecologist, Natasha was instrumental in the early adoption in 2020 of mandatory biodiversity net gain for major projects by Cornwall Council. Since then Natasha has given BNG talks across England to groups including RIBA, CIOB and many businesses, helping grow understanding around this major new area.
Natasha is a practitioner of policy and strategy advice and writing, Environmental Impact Assessment, Ecological Impact Assessment and Habitats Regulations Assessment. She has a first class MEnv Sci focused in Ecology and Environmental Science from the University of Southampton and has achieved Chartered Environmentalist, Chartered Scientist and Chartered Water and Environmental Manager status.
Natasha is author of Cornwall 's Biodiversity Supplementary Planning document and a contributing author of Cornwall Council's Climate Change Development Management Plan and British Standard BS42021: Integral nest boxes – Selection and installation for new developments.
