Shropshire Society of Architects - autumn 2023 lecture series - part two

Shropshire Society of Architects would like to invite you to the second event in their autumn 2023 lecture series who will deliver a talk about the New Shrewsbury Design Code.

Our second event on 24 October 2023 features Dr Andy Wigley, Policy & Environment Service Manager (Planning Services) and Tim Pritchard, Shrewsbury Programme Manager (Place Directorate) from Shropshire Council, who will deliver a talk about the New Shrewsbury Design Code.

The content will describe the wider context of the design code in terms of the Big Town Plan and the Shrewsbury Town Centre Regeneration programme and will cover the detail of the design code itself and how it fits with Shropshire Council’s new local plan and the government’s latest planning reforms.

The design code will inform developers how spaces can be designed to their fullest potential. One of the key priorities agreed through the Shrewsbury Big Town Plan was that any new developments should reflect the town’s unique character and heritage by meeting The Shrewsbury Test.

The project has been grant funded by the Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC), and Shropshire Council is one of twenty-five councils taking part in the Design Code Pathfinders programme. Working alongside Shropshire Council, Shrewsbury Town Council and Shrewsbury BID, and in line with the principles and objectives of the Shrewsbury Big Town Plan, LDA Design will lead a series of stakeholder engagement workshops to gauge public views.
