Celebrating the next generation of black architects

October marks Black History Month in the UK – it’s a time to celebrate the culture and achievements of the Black British community.

To mark Black History Month, we asked our RIBA community to nominate a newly-qualified black architect or architecture student from either a Part 1, Part 2 or Part 3 course who has had an inspirational journey into architecture.

Working in partnership with the Stephen Lawrence Trust, RIBA London also put out an open call via their social channels, asking for young black architects to tell us why they deserved to be showcased as part of our Black History Month celebrations. Stephen Lawrence was an aspiring architect and as 2018 marks the 25th anniversary of his death, we thought it was important to highlight the experiences of young black architecture students in the UK.

Follow our campaign throughout October and meet the inspirational students and newly qualified architects making a difference to the profession.
