About the project

The scheme took two years on site and included full scaffold to all elevations, with the renewal of three lanterns above the atria in new double-glazed units, cleaning and repair of brickwork and stonework, repair and redecoration of timber and render panels, structural repairs behind glazed brickwork, and the specialist repair of the gilding to the iconic weathervane.

About the architects

Heritage Architecture was established in 1992 by Stephen Levrant as an evolution of the Frizzell Partnership (founded in 1948). The organisation has since won widespread respect and acclaim throughout the UK for its work in planning, urban design and practical project construction, exclusively within the historic cultural environment. With some twenty staff across offices in London, Manchester, and Bristol, they are a small experienced multi-disciplinary team of architects, historians, researchers, surveyors, heritage and townscape consultants.

Stephen Levrant, RIBA, AA Dipl, IHBC, Dip Cons (AA), ACArch, FRSA, Principal Architect, has dedicated his entire career to conservation and historic buildings, in both public and private sectors, and has been involved with the Liberty Tudor building since 2005 and oversees all works related to the building.

Francesca Cipolla, RIBA SCA, MSc (Heritage Planning), Dottore dell`Architettura, Practice Director, is a specialist conservation architect and over-sees their portfolio as practice director, joining the team at Heritage Architecture Ltd in 2005. Francesca has been involved with Liberty's Tudor building since 2017, and managing all the projects within the building since.
