Sam Culling, RIBA East Midlands Chair, welcomed over 150 guests to the 2011 RIBA Award winning Newton Building (designed by Hopkins) at Nottingham Trent University on 9 May. As ever, it was a fantastic evening to celebrate the best in East Midlands architecture.
8 East Midlands projects have won RIBA East Midlands Awards, which were announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at Nottingham Trent University on Thursday 9 May.
On Wednesday 3 April 2019, architecture students from across the East Midlands came together for a one-day charrette hosted by Nottingham Trent University’s (NTU) School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment.
The twelve-strong line up of projects shortlisted for this year’s RIBA East Midlands Awards reflects a mix of the new and the historic including several conservation projects, as well as more contemporary interventions.

This year the RIBA East Midlands Education Group received a total of 14 submissions from the region’s RIBA-validated schools of architecture for its student awards in Parts 1 and 2. The prize for Part 1 has been awarded to Ross Burns from the University of Nottingham and for Part 2 to Simon Green from the Leicester School of Architecture, De Montfort University.
On a very cold February morning, John Morgan, director at Leonard Design Architects, took a group of nine Year 3 Architecture students from The University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University on a visit to see one of the practice’s projects.
