The York Architectural Association is proud to host this year’s RIBA Stirling Stories: North, a prestigious and eagerly awaited occasion that brings together leading architects from across the country.
This exclusive evening offers a rare opportunity to hear directly from the six practices shortlisted for the 2025 RIBA Stirling Prize, as they share the stories behind their nominated projects. Taking place just one week before the official awards ceremony in London, the event offers unique insight into the country’s most inspiring architectural achievements of the year.
The 2025 shortlist includes:
- Appleby Blue Almshouse by Witherford Watson Mann Architects
- Elizabeth Tower by Purcell
- Hastings House by Hugh Strange Architects
- London College of Fashion by Allies and Morrison
- Niwa House by Takero Shimazaki Architects
- The Discovery Centre (DISC) by Herzog and de Meuron / BDP
Alongside the presentations, guests will enjoy a vibrant evening of networking opportunities, accompanied by a food and drinks reception. It promises to be both an inspiring and sociable gathering for architects, students, and anyone passionate about the built environment.
This event is generously supported by our sponsors — Imperial Bricks, Atcis Insulation, and Wienerberger — whose contributions make the evening possible. We are also delighted to partner with local charity Sash, which prevents homelessness among 16 to 25 year-olds across York and North Yorkshire. To support their vital work, £2 from every ticket will be donated to Sash.
The venue is fully accessible, with step-free entry, wheelchair-accessible lifts, tactile aids, and accessible toilets on multiple levels.
